Stephen Melillo on The Making of Love Conquers All, the Gift.

I talk to award winning Stephen Melillo about the process of recording Love Conquers All, The Gift. Stephen said, One of the cool stories from our recent recording of the Smithfield HS and MS choirs was the stepping up of a volunteer. Because the intended soloist was a no-show, I asked, “Who wants to sing the solo?” All of the kids pointed to the bashful, Catherine Day. The bell rang. The kids left. Some close friends stayed to support Catherine.

Catherine bravely stood in front of Roland’s mics. Roland, who defines gentleness, himself with 3 daughters, explained to Catherine what we needed to do.

As a result, Catherine was perfect for the solo. She sounded exactly as the Composer intended, like an innocent child, sharing an important Message with the world. “Love Conquers All.”

loved talking to Eric Gilliom

The White Hawaiian, starring Eric Gilliom, is a smart and witty one-man show that first debuted in 2019 to sold-out audiences at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Following its initial success in 2020, White Hawaiian did it again at Mulligan’s on the Blue in Wailea with more sell-out shows and rave reviews. This summer, Gilliom will reprise his roles for two nights followed by a matinee each month at the ProArts Playhouse in Kihei. White Hawaiian will have a three-month residency with the opening weekend starting on July 8th,9th, and 10th followed by August 12th, 13th, 14th, and finally September 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2022.

The White Hawaiian was written by Eric Gilliom and Brian Kohne and is based on Eric Gilliom’s famous family history and Eric’s career as an entertainer. Furiously donning outlandish wigs with gaudy costumes, the story unfolds from his great grandparents to his grandparents on down to his parents then seamlessly into growing up with his six-time Grammy-nominated sister, Amy Hānaialiʻi Gilliom. The reliving of his career highlights and follies makes this a full-circle story that is rich and entertaining.

I do a talk and meditation on the power of goodwill, and i talk about the Great Invocation.

World Invocation Day has been observed on the day of the Gemini full moon since 1952.  The Great Invocation is used to invoke spiritual energies of Light, Love and Purpose.

God’s purpose for humanity, the divine Plan, works out as human beings respond, organically and often unconsciously, to these higher energies.

Please use the Great Invocation on World Invocation Day, and every day, with dedication and mindfulness. You will be contributing to the One Work of building right relations.

World Invocation Day is a world day of prayer and meditation when men and women of every spiritual path join in a universal appeal to divinity and use the Great Invocation.

 

Lisa Dahl’s new book, A Romance with Food

I talk to Lisa Dahl,  the Executive Chef/Restaurateur of Dahl Restaurant Group which includes Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill, Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano, Cucina Rustica and Pisa Lisa in Sedona, Arizona. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Lisa's passion for cooking is inspiring and makes her pretty fabulous.

Lisa ha a new book out, A Romance with Food shares with you my interpretation of bold cuisine that I coin—Latin fusion cooking. What sets this book apart is that it’s more than a mere collection of recipes. It’s a cooking style intertwined with storytelling and compelling visuals. My hope is that it helps you feel the soul of the food, as I do. I don’t complicate the techniques or use obscure tools or ingredients. Suzy’s tips on what to eat in hot weather

Suzy has a degree in experiential education and ecopsychology. I had some beautiful experiences at Prescott College getting to know the southwest, practicing community activism, reflecting on cultural perspectives, and diving into the psyche. Through my twenties, I got to experience comfortable and uncomfortable chapters with travel and personal development. My work has largely revolved around healthy food — cooking, farming, working in health food stores, and helping to put out a permaculture podcast — and I also spent two years working in the school system.

I decided in 2015 that my desire was to have a little health food store. I am so grateful for all of the support I have received in bringing this desire to life

When she was working at The Food Conspiracy Co-Op in Tucson, a customer of mine wished me a Happy Interdependence Day. He then smiled and said, “…because we all need each other.”

That message has stayed with me these past few years and has offered me inspiration and a sense of purpose regarding the store.
