From Darkness to Light

In the time of darkness there is light. This is a deep talk and meditation about darkness and light. Many spiritual holi-days are celebrated at this time of year, Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness. I go into how we embody the light and maintain the light and use the light in our life.

Giving and Receiving

A deep dive into how and why we give and receive. Based on a poem i wrote, called the Begging Bowl. I do a meditation with an exercise on how to receive more light and love

how do we serve and give

how do we find a way

the share more in how we live

 

there are so very many

 empty begging bowls

asking for us to help

and feed a starving soul

 

there will always be

those who are hungry

with call to feed those

who are in great need

 

there are many empty begging bowls

and many whose bowls are full

what can we do to give

something to help the whole

 

sometimes it’s a small gift

an act of kindness

that makes the world

a better place to live 

 

we all have needs to feed

we all have gifts to share

it’s nice to see the give and take

find a way to show we care

 

empty begging bowls

can be a chalice

and become an offering  

a chance to share our blessings

For when we empty our bowl

Since humans arrived on the islands, 95 of 142 bird species found nowhere else have become extinct on Hawai'i. 33 of Hawai'i's remaining 44 endemic birds are listed under the Endangered Species Act; 11 of those have not been seen for decades and are likely extinct.
