Dana Pastula From Cafe O' Lei

Monday Jul 25, 2016
Had a great talk with Dana from Cafe O Lei about a special event coming up August 15th with WIllie K to help raise funds for the Philippines. "We all begin to move mountains by carrying small stones." A motto we take to heart with this project. During the strongest typhoon ever to hit our planet, Yolanda, my family went home to the Philippines and organized a relief plan to help those that were heavily affected by the storm. Armed with generous funds from friends and family from Maui, we were able to reach places where international help was not available. Our goal was to provide help directly to families without going to any agencies so that 100% of the funds go directly to help their needs. It was a task that meant not only money but time and in the end it was all worth it.
51 families were given help by putting up shelter, 450 families were fed and provided sustenance such as rice, candles, soap, canned goods because electricity and roads were not yet fully accessible, donated materials for the construction of badly needed latrines. This event will continue the work that we have begun, along with friends from Tacloban that were directly hit by the typhoon and still have not regained normalcy. Kids walking for miles to get water, health issues are affected due to unsanitary practices, schools are still lacking in equipment... Your help from this event will go directly to relief programs that we have chosen that will affect lives.... Please help us by purchasing a ticket or directly donating to our cause...for a small amount will go a long way. We are preparing a wonderful evening with great food, the best entertainment from Willie K and his band and dancing! Mahalo for your support, with your help we hope to reach and make a difference in many more lives. https://www.facebook.com/CafeOleiRestaurants/photos/pb.150977221593164.-2207520000.1469503425./1244787658878776/?type=3&theater
