Valerie Romanoff on changing gears
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
I talked to Valerie Romanoff on what it takes to adjust to being very busy on the road to changing gears and working at home in New York.
The talent of Valerie Romanoff shimmers across a full spectrum of music, she calls it “STILL, CHILL, THRILL.” While most musical artists fit into one genre, Valerie enjoys an affinity for creating music of many kinds: spanning new age, jazz, rock, blues, world music, and her most favorite; FUNK. While her celebrated albums have to date been geared toward the meditation, yoga and spa markets, she simultaneously engages audiences with live, up-tempo dance music for high profile private events around the United States, as co-founder and creative director of Starlight Orchestras in New York City, and at festivals and gatherings with her new band SPIRIT JAMFEST. She is known for her bright presence onstage, her skill in crafting a range of musical experiences, and her talent for bringing together world class performers. But nothing defines Valerie as much as her captivating and energetic electric guitar playing. Valerie is definitely a MULTI-GROOVE musician!

Saturday May 09, 2020
Saturday May 09, 2020
A talk and meditation on Harmony and how it works well to be in tune with the cosmos and the Muisc of the Spheres.
The Music of the Spheres was a model of the universe proposed by Pythagoras and Aristotle, which explained cosmology in terms of spheres to which the sun, the moon and the planets were pinned, while their motion was driven by something akin to music and that the movement of the stars produces a harmony.

Love talking to Martha Reich.Martha is an award-winning Santa Fe-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Martha Reich has performed around the world and shared stages with Melissa Crabtree, Consuelo Luz, the Reverend Horten Heat and others as well as opening for Kate MacLeod and performing at the Sundance Film Festival. Originally from New England, she received a BFA in illustration, but music called and she relocated to Santa Fe in 1999 where she has since released five CDs including the award-winning album entitled BRAVE BIRD.
Her 2018 release BRAVE BIRD, was described as “stunning and heartbreaking” by Americana Highways and earned her a Gold Medal for Female Vocalist in the 2018 Global Music Awards, as well as the LA Critics Award for Best Folk Artist. Often compared to Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, Reich is deeply inspired by nature and her unique style features an honesty and vulnerability that evokes “a sound almost woven out of the earth.”
Reich won the 2019 New Mexico Music Award for Best Singer-Songwriter Song with 'Fade Away'. In 2018 she received a Clouzine International Music Award for Best Indie Album 'BRAVE BIRD’ previously winning Global Music Awards in 2017 and 2016, The Southwest Independent Music Award in 2015, and the 2014 New Mexico Music Award for Best Folk Song ‘I’d Rather be Surprised’
